For many years, we cultivated our vines to produce wines intended solely for family consumption. Driven by our passion and the many accolades received, in 1995 we decided to pursue our dreams and produce our artisanal wine bottled.

It took several years and experiments, but finally, in the year 2000, our first bottle was released onto the market. Currently, our production is approximately 4000 bottles per year, but with the new cellar that will be operational from the 2023 harvest, we will reach about 6000 bottles. We own about 1 hectare, divided into several vineyards, all adjacent to each other, forming a single plot. They are all located in Issogne, on the right bank of the Dora Baltea, in the production area of DOC Arnad-Montjovet, right where the rocky and alluvial soil welcomes the Boccoueil stream.

THE PRODUCTS

The vineyards are those of the family: six thousand square meters fragmented into small plots near the Bocoueil stream. The pergola system of my grandfather hosts “anciennecépage” with old vines of Nebbiolo, Barbera, Merlot, Dolcetto, Freisa, Cornalin, Mayolet, and Neyret. The more functional vineyards, revitalized through significant countryside work, welcome French Merlot clones. The vineyards are managed responsibly with a craftsman’s keen eye, resulting in two wines rich in personality. The Bocoueil represents the traditional wine, celebrating the grapes from the old family vineyard. Here, different varieties blend to create a symbol of genuine authenticity—a wine that looks to the past, unapologetically reclaiming its farming origins.

THE TERRITORY

Our territory is part of the beauty of our Alpine landscapes, with the high and majestic peaks of the Alps accompanied by the placid flow of the Dora Baltea river. Our village, Issogne, with its narrow cobblestone streets winding through ancient stone-walled houses, harmoniously blends into this ever-changing landscape of colored meadows and pine forests that surround it. A comprehensive view can be enjoyed from the Issogne Castle, an architectural masterpiece from the 14th century, still in perfect condition and adorned with medieval frescoes.

For the more adventurous and action-loving individuals, don’t forget to experience a canoe descent down the river, at the end of which you can sit down at one of the many inns in the village to enjoy local delights such as mountain cheeses and cured meats.

PAIRINGS

The Nebbiolo is a full-bodied red wine, tannic, with good acidity, often showing notes of cherry, rose, licorice, and spices. Here are the suggested pairings:
Red meats: Braised beef, Florentine steak, roast beef.
Game: Venison, pheasant.

The Freisa is a red wine with good acidity and pronounced tannins, often slightly sparkling, with notes of red fruits and spices. Pair it with:
Meat dishes: Mixed boiled meats, sausages.
Piedmontese regional dishes: Bagna cauda, veal with tuna sauce.

The Neyret is an aromatic and spicy red wine, with notes of berries, herbs, and spices. Here are the suggested pairings:
Red meat dishes: Roast lamb, meat stews.
Valdostan regional dishes: Carbonada, cheesy polenta.
Cheeses: Fontina, aged mountain cheeses.

LOCAL CUISINE

It is prepared throughout the Valle d’Aosta and of course also in our district because it is perfect for facing the cold winter days in the mountains. I’m talking about “Zuppa alla Valdostana”, rustic and hearty, based on local ingredients such as Fontina cheese and classic vegetables like onions, carrots, potatoes, all combined with sliced rye bread. It is cooked in broth, usually vegetable, which spreads an inviting and irresistible aroma in the air, best enjoyed with a glass of red wine from our valleys.
