My farm, Manià, is a small family business that I have the honor of leading with the invaluable support of my loved ones. Over the past twenty years, I have been fortunate to grow up alongside my grandfather Mirko, who, with his skilled hands, transformed these lands, enhancing the territory and lovingly tending to his orchards and vineyards. Since I was a child, I followed him through the rows, learning from him a love for the land, respect for our origins, and dedication to the farm and the vineyards.
Over time, I sought to give shape to a dream I had cherished in my heart: to celebrate the diversity of our grapes and the unique characteristics of the Collio soil. In 2018, I produced my first bottle of wine, a milestone that represents not only the fruit of my hard work but also a tribute to the passion my grandfather instilled in me.
THE PRODUCTS
I am delighted to present to you our “necklace” of oenological gems from Collio, the result of meticulous work selecting our grapes.
Ribolla Gialla
An indigenous wine with an intense yellow color. On the nose, it offers citrus notes, white acacia flowers, and a fresh balsamic hint of mint. On the palate, vibrant acidity and a pleasant saline persistence stand out.
Sauvignon
With a bright yellow hue, it is distinguished by balsamic aromas of mint, tomato leaf, and rosemary, influenced by the cool climate of the vineyard near the forest. Freshness, acidity, and elegance make it balanced and complex.
Pinot Grigio Manià
With an intense yellow color, it releases aromas of dried fruits on the nose. On the palate, it is fresh and well-balanced, with the unmistakable softness given by the “ponka,” the typical Collio soil.
THE TERRITORY
Our village, San Floriano del Collio, is a small urban gem nestled among the gentle hills of Collio Friulano in the province of Gorizia, near the Slovenian border. It is renowned for its delightful panoramas, dotted with rows of vineyards alternating with woods and meadows, creating a harmonious and timeless landscape. The village retains an authentic atmosphere, where the past and present coexist harmoniously.
San Floriano’s soil is unique and precious, characterized by the famous “ponka,” a composition of marl and sandstone that gives wines their minerality, structure, and distinctive character. San Floriano del Collio is synonymous with excellent wines, particularly elegant and fragrant whites such as Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, and Sauvignon, as well as bold and intense reds like Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Here, every sip tells the story of the winemakers’ passion and the essence of a land seemingly born for the vine.
PAIRINGS
Our wines pair wonderfully with a wide variety of dishes. Here’s a small selection:
Ribolla Gialla
Perfect with light appetizers, fish tartare, fresh salads, and shellfish dishes. Excellent also with fresh cheeses and goat cheese.
Sauvignon
A great match for vegetable dishes like asparagus or herb risottos, as well as baked fish and delicate white meats.
Pinot Grigio Manià
Ideal with structured first courses such as vegetable lasagna, white meats in light sauces, and flavorful fish like sea bass.
LOCAL CUISINE
We have a recipe to suggest that is an ode to simplicity: Frico. A dish made of potatoes, slowly golden in a pan, to which Montasio cheese is added—aged just enough to melt into the golden strands of potatoes. Slowly, a golden crust forms, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, enveloping the warm and flavorful heart of the frico.
We serve it steaming hot, and each bite is a journey: the sweetness of the onions, the softness of the potatoes, and the savoriness of the cheese intertwine, offering a taste of Friulian tradition and our generous land, where every ingredient has a story to tell. And if you raise a glass of Friulano or Ribolla Gialla with friends, the frico becomes pure poetry.
